If you are looking to create a conference, please refer to our Video Conference article.

Once a conference is created, you may want to change the host and co-hosting roles on the fly. This is useful if you have more than one individual that can take over a conference at any given time or if you need any participant to have more privileges without you being available, regardless of who owns the meeting.

Please note that in order for this to work, you have to at least be invited to the meeting so you can access it.

Assigning Hosts and Co-hosts

As a host, you can change the role of anyone in the meeting to help you with your conference.

To assign a role, simply click on roles and then select the user and the role you want them to have.

Once you are comfortable with your changes, just hit save:

This will let the participants with changes know that they are now co-hosting the conference.

Claiming Host

If the host is not coming to the conference or if someone else needs to take over as host, there are two ways to claim the Host role.

If the host is not in the meeting

When the host didn't join the meeting or isn't there. Any co-host can claim the Host position. A dialog box will show up to confirm this is what you need and you'll take over as Host once you confirm.

If the Host is in the meeting

When the Host is there, you can claim the Host role in the same fashion as above, the difference is, the Host will have to accept your request for the role to change.

Note: There can be multiple Co-Hosts in a meeting and all have the ability to present media. All other features are exclusive to the host.

That's it! Now you know how to manage Hosts and Co-Hosts in a conference. If you have further questions, don't forget to hit the help chat icon so our team can help you!
